OUR FOUNDER

I have lived in Ohio for 18 years. I am married to an amazing man named Pete who supports me and my idea for this program.  We have been married 10 years.  Together we have 4 kids in our blended family.   

Ben, who is the true  inspiration for my business is our oldest. He is 21 years old. a Ben was born with many challenges and was diagnosed as having developmental and cognitive disabilities at the age of 3.  

Will is 19 and is attending University of Louisville.  Catherine is 18 and attends University of Kentucky.  Colin, the youngest, attends Warren County Career Center.  He is enjoying the HVAC program.  Colin has been diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD and struggles socially.  We also have 2 crazy dogs Bulliett and Woodford. 

Before starting YGT I worked as a job coach/skills trainer in the Project SEARCH program through the Warren County Career Center.  I have learned so much and met such amazing young adults that have taught me so many things.

I have started this program because I believe there is a HUGE need for our young adults to have social opportunities with their peers outside of a school type environment to develop healthy and appropriate social skills. 

Being a parent is hard.  Being a parent of a child with challenges can be overwhelming and isolating.  We worry about EVERYTHING.  The past, the present and dare I say it... the FUTURE. Many families with a child with special needs feel isolated and aren't always aware of the many resources and support systems that are available to them.

I was one of those parents.  My hope is that YGT will help facilitate friendships, support and independence.
